Local Entertainer makes racist comments during Pride

This morning on the day of Pride, we received a message from an anonymous source that local entertainer Skye Smith aka Alyx Ryder, made racist comments toward local DJ and promoter Angela White. The comments started a firestorm; Smith even reached out to White via Facebook messenger. And send an address so they could take the matter further. Finally, outrage led to community leaders reaching out to the promoters of Pride Night in the Grove and having Smith removed from hosting the event.

The story gets worse as the victim and others are ignored, and Smith is allowed to host and perform last night. This behavior should not be tolerated in St. Louis or other cities. According to inside sources, the event was a "shit show," and many performers were upset about how it was run. For example, a local entertainer with halitosis replaced a national title holder who got complaints of bad breath while on stage during last night's event.

The leadership in the St. Louis LGBTQIA+ community has a horrible history of gaslighting the victim, and in the spirit of Pride, we ask ourselves why White was ignored?. Was it because irresponsible promoters ran the event, or because the event was low budget and they desperately needed Smith to host the event, or was it because of White’s skin color? Does Smith even know where they came from? Doesn’t Smith know that the liberation movement was created by Diversity?

When we read these comments and see how this situation was handled, we see a pattern of the wrong people being in charge of events that carry a tradition that goes back more than fifty years. Therefore, we ask that in the spirit of Pride, please take the time to background check your entertainers and not allow anyone to perform just because whoever does not have the proper budget.

Neglance has no excuse in the spirit of Pride, and the campaign continues to have Smith banned from performing in St. Louis. Many show directors saw the comments and have taken action. Many feel that Smith has a history of problematic behavior, which was the final straw. House of Chuck Magazine has zero-tolerance for racism and continues to combat corruption daily; this is a developing story and will continue in a series of articles; if anyone has any complaints about Skye Smith, aka Alyx Ryder, or those who were over last nights event, please reach out to me via inbox or Chuckpfoutzpresents@gmail.com.
